We pick up from your guest house/hotel in the Khao san area at 0800 hours and make our way by car or mini bus to the Grand Palace. The Palace is made up of many buildings set around many gardens and courtyards. The Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Kaew) is carved from just one piece of Jade; it is the holiest and most revered religious object in Thailand.
We then move on to Wat Po nearby which houses the reclining Buddah. The highly impressive gold plated reclining Buddha is 46 meters long and 15 meters high, and is designed to illustrate the passing of the Buddha into nirvana. The feet and the eyes are engraved with mother-of-pearl decoration. The large grounds of Wat Po contain more than 1000 Buddha images in total, most from the ruins of the former capitals Ayuthaya and Sukhothai.
Then continue to Wat Arun on the opposite side of the Chao Prayah river. It is an impressive structure, (90 metres high), especially from a distance. It is possible to walk up the very steep steps although not all the way to the top.
The price includes tour guide, transport and admission fees.
Please be aware of the dress code when visiting Thailand temples. Please dress appropriately, ladies should cover their shoulders and shorts should reach the knee. If necessary you may borrow suitable attire at the entrance of the Palace.
