Koh Samui
Koh Samui, one of Southeast Asias most beautiful islands, is located east of Surattani adjacent to Koh Phangan. Magnificent white sands surround the island with coconut trees in abundance. A ring road encircles the mountainous inner region. The best way to see Samui is by renting a motor bike or hiring a car with some friends.
Chaweng and Lamai are the most popular beaches with Chaweng having the most varied nightlife. Many bars and nightclubs and restaurants are concentrated in a narrow road which extends maybe 400 metres, the most popular area being in the region of the Green Mango. For those who prefer a more laid back holiday you can relax by the hotel pool which will usually lead directly on to the beach. In the evening the many hotel restaurants will sell their fresh seafood and tropical fruits on the beach.
Travelling with Bangkok Airways the island is only 45 minutes away from Bangkok. The airport is not far from the resort of Chaweng. A cheaper way to get there is to take a bus or train to Surattani and then take a taxi to Donsak pier. The ferry will take 2 hours to get to Koh Samui.
If you wish to go to this paradise island contact Canary Travel. We'll arrange bus and ferry, buses leaving every evening from Bangkok. Alternatively we can find a flight for you with Bangkok Airways.
Koh Phangan
Koh Phangan is an island 70km from Surattani mainland and 12 km from Koh Samui. Much of Koh Phangan is unspoilt tropical forest with superb diving sites and picturesque waterfalls. It is famous for its monthly Full Moon beach parties. As well as the Full Moon party there is the Half Moon party just two weeks later. There are many bars and nightclubs in the Thonsala/Haad Rin area as well as many restaurants selling international and Thai cuisine. You will find places to eat very inexpensively to something a bit more expensive at the seafood restaurants. If you want to have fun Koh Phangan is the place to go.
Although it is famous for its beach parties there is another face to Koh Phangan. If you are looking for fantastic scenery Haad Yao, Haad Son and Mae Haad, on the West of the island needs to be on your itinerary.
To get to Koh Phangan you can fly from Bangkok to Koh Samui and take a ferry or you can fly to Surattani with Air Asia or Nok Air and then take a ferry to the island. It is cheaper to fly to Surattani than flying to Samui but it will take five hours as opposed to one hour from Koh Samui airport.
Canary Travel can provide transport from Bangkok to Koh Phangan by road or train, the bus being quicker! It is best to book in advance if you wish to travel in the Full Moon period as many guesthouses/bungalows get booked very early. Ask us for a quote if you need a guest house or hotel.
