Summer storms in Udon Thani, Sisaket and Phetchabun provinces yesterday killed two villagers and injured three others.

More than 200 homes were also damaged by the strong summer storms.

One death was reported at Ban Tom Pa Kha in Nonsa-ard district of Udon Thani after hailstorm ravaged the village causing a house to collapse killing the owner and injuring another occupant inside.

The second death was also reported in the same district but on the road from Nonsa-ard to Nonsaeng.

A villager died from electrical short-circuit after the hailstorm uprooted a power pole which fell on his passing motorcycle. A pillion rider was also injured.

Over 200 homes in Nonsa-ard district were damaged by the storm.

In Sisaket province, summer storms also damaged hundreds of durian and banana trees in Kantararak district.

Summer storms in Lomsak district if Phetchabun also damaged hundreds of homes, forcing local authorities to declare 11 districts disaster areas so immediate assistance could be delivered to troubled villagers in time.
