Erawan museum and Ancient City (Muang Boran) Print E-mail

Ancient City, Muang Boran.We leave Bangkok at 0700 hours and depart for the Erawan museum.

The museum, housed in the body of a huge three headed elephant, was built to preserve a large amount of antiques and religious artifacts.  The three headed elephant weighs over 100 tons.  Inside the hollow elephant are many sections in this three storey museum.  You can choose a lift or take the staircase to reach different levels. Tours start every 30 minutes.

We depart to the Ancient City and have lunch in a nearby restaurant.
Muang Boran, or The Ancient City, is the worlds largest open air museum.  It has scaled down replicas of many important historical sites in Thailand. Located on an area of 320 acres the Ancient City reflects different aspects of Thai culture through 116 buildings Inside Erawan museum giving an insight into Thai identity in terms of history, arts, traditions and cultures.

We arrive back in Bangkok at 1630.

07.00 AM

  • Pick up tourists from various points in Khao San area.
  • Departure from Bangkok to Erawan Museum. The museum holds exhibitions and displays antique objects. The upper floor displays various types of porcelain.
  • Later depart to the Ancient City. Located on and area of 320 acres. The Ancient City or Muang Boran reflects different aspects of Thai culture through 116 buildings giving an insight into Thai identity in terms of history, arts, traditions and cultures.

Damnoen Saduak, River Kwai & Nakhon Pathom Print E-mail

Big Pagoda Nakhon Pathom Thailand tourLeaving Bangkok early in the morning, 0700 hours, we arrive at the ferry boat pier and take a long tailed speed boat to the main part of the floating market. You may wander around the market on foot or pay 150 baht extra to join a paddle boat to buy any souvenirs/fresh fruit etc you might wish to purchase. Whichever you choose you will have one hour to yourself at this point.

We leave the floating market and have lunch (included) at Kanchanaburi.  We then travel to the cemetery of the Allied prisoners of the second world war. 6982 Allied prisoners are buried here.   Then we go to the Jeath museum (Japan, England Australia, Thailand and Holland; nationalities of soldiers who participated in the construction)  This is optional and costs 40 baht.  Then the bridge over the River Kwai for a photo opportunity.

The epic film The Bridge on the River Kwai, made in 1957, was based on a true story of World War 2 and received seven Academy awards.The Kwai bridge symbolizes the brutality of war, built by thousands of prisoners of war under the command of the Japanese.

We then visit the War museum.
Admission fee 40 baht and is optional.

We arrive back in Bangkok at 1800 hours.

Damnern Floating Market Thailand

Damnoen Saduak (Means: Comfortable travel) is a district (Thai: Amphoe) in the Thai province Ratchaburi.  The floating market - Damnern Saduak Floating Market - on a klong near the district office is its most famous destination, where locals and foreigners alike visit for relaxation, enjoying the local Thai culture, and Thai style shopping (lots of fresh fruits, vegetables and flowers). Men and women travel on the river selling their wares;  underneath their straw hat is usually a smiling face!

Leaving Bangkok early in the morning, 0700 hours, we arrive at the ferry boat pier and take a long tailed speed boat to the main part of the floating market. Whichever you choose you will have Rose Garden Culture Show in Thailand one hour to yourself at this point.

We leave the floating market and have lunch at approximately 12.30 pm.

After lunch (which is included) you can spend time at your leisure, then watch the culture show at the Rose Garden, which includes 14 shows and over 150 performers, vividly portraying a fascinating cross section of Thailand's cultural heritage and way of life, ceremonies, dance and pastimes. The Rose garden is located just outside Bangkok and has 70 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens. Ponds with bridges and beautiful flowers. The fully restored pavilion by Thailand Rose Garden Culturethe pond is open to the public and there are many interesting water features.

The Rose Garden is a superb place for a day trip; there are so many things to see and do including amazing flowers and trees, to elephant rides and Thai boxing.

At 0700 hours we pick up tourists from various parts of the city and depart to the river Kwai. We visit the cemetary of the Allied prisoners of the Second World War. It contains the remains of 6,982 Australian, Dutch and British war prisoners who lost their lives during the construction of the Death railway.

If you wish you may make an optional visit to the Jeath museum, cost 40 baht. If you wish to omit the museum you may carry on to the "Bridge Over the River Kwai" which is only a very short walk away. You can walk along the bridge and take photos of the trains that still use the railway. You can stand to one side and take a picture as they travel very slowly along the bridge. At 1100 hours we leave the bridge and enjoy a Thai lunch then afterwards we travel to Sai Yok Noi waterfall where, time permitting, you can bathe in the water.

At 1300 hours we visit Hellfire Pass. The Hellfire Pass Memorial is dedicated to allied prisoners of war and the Asian forced laborers who suffered and died while building the Burma-Thailand railway during World War II. At 1500 hours we go to Somnuk elephant camp and stay overnight on a floating raft. A room with a fan is included in the price.

Day 2
Next day we awake to breakfast at 0830 and at 0930 we enjoy Sumnuk Elephant camp. Bathing elephant. elephant riding in the jungle and bamboo rafting down the river Kwai Noi. Later in the morning we travel to the train station and have a picnic lunch box. At 1300 we take a train on the death railway, 100 baht extra. Later in the day we return to Bangkok arriving at about 1800 hours.

Price includes one night in a fan room. Also Thai meal on first day and packed lunch on the second day. Drinks are not included.
